Description
This was the Fairport that ran with the psychedelic underground, flexing their muscles, a slumbering entity about to wake. This was their beatnik phase, producing such evergreens as Sandy Dennys beautiful Fotheringay, the first tangible examples of electrified trad in Nottamun Town and She Moves Through The Fair neither song, incidentally, British. More significantly, Richard Thompson began to move in his own mysterious way, gifting Meet On The Ledge which has since become their signature. Variety, as they say, is the spice of life and this collection adroitly exploits just that.
