* Formed in the late 80s, Carcass featured ex-Napalm Death guitarist Bill Steer and ex-Electro Hippies vocalist Jeff Walker.
* The band became famous as a gore band using extreme images on album sleeve and in lyrics, often with a medical dictionary providing inspiration, before later successfully moving towards melodic death metal, particularly on Swansong.
* The band toured the world with great success and eventually signed a major label deal with Columbia Records in the mid 90s.
* Having split after the release of the final album Swansong, Jeff Walker continued with Blackstar and Brujeria. Bill Steer formed Firebird, and Mike Amott found success with Spiritual Beggars and Arch Enemy.
