Description
This is one of the classic tapes that made up most of the famous Great White Wonder bootleg, widely regarded as the first of its kind. Recorded on December 22, 1961 in the Minneapolis apartment of Bobs girlfriend at the time, Bonnie Beecher it has an informal air about it that finds Dylan in a very relaxed mood among friends. At the same time the tape acts as a sort of demo tape and represents the spectrum of Dylans song catalog at the time. There are hardly any original songs here as he hadnt yet approached his true writing years yet. At this point he is a performer of folk, blues, and country standards and the influence of Woody Guthrie and others is especially strong. Highlights include Poor Lazarus, Dinks Song, Black Cross, Ramblin Round, Its Hard To Be Blind, and I Was Young When I Left Home. There can be no doubt that this is one of his most historic tapes and is a must for anyone interested in Dylans formative years, and theres no better way to own it than on this deluxe double vinyl version from Mr. Suit.
