Formed in Bristol in 2020, Tara Clerkin Trio – Tara Clerkin, Sunny Joe Paradisos and Patrick Benjamin – craft a distinctive blend of avant-pop, dubwise electronics and dreamlike songcraft. With earlier mini-albums In Spring and On The Turning Ground establishing their reputation on World of Echo, Somewhere Good finds the trio refining their quietly experimental approach across a richly detailed set of songs. Drawing loose inspiration from the atmospheric lineage of Bristols trip-hop tradition while moving far beyond it, the group combine harmonium drones, upright bass, woodwinds, acoustic guitar and soft keys with understated beats, samples and subtle studio manipulation. The result is music that drifts between dub, kraut-tinged folk, modern composition and leftfield pop. Beneath the shifting arrangements sit strong melodies and Clerkins calm, intimate voice, providing a steady centre to the trios exploratory sound world.
