Description
Public Enemy – Fear of a Black Planet
Released in 1990, Fear of a Black Planet is Public Enemy’s third studio album and one of the most important records in hip-hop history. Dense, confrontational and relentlessly inventive, it arrived at a moment of cultural tension and met it head-on — with production from The Bomb Squad that layered samples, noise and rhythm into something that still sounds unlike anything else.
Fight the Power, 911 Is a Joke and Welcome to the Terrordome pushed the boundaries of what rap music could say and how it could sound. Chuck D’s delivery is precise and forceful throughout, with Flavor Flav providing sharp contrast. Together they made a record that was as much a statement as it was an album.
