Description
This is the long-awaited vinyl format of the latest Gorillaz album Plastic Beach. Five years on from the release of Demon Days, Murdoc Niccals and co. are back. The band have taken up residence, recording on a secret floating island deep in the South Pacific, a Plastic Beach HQ, made up of the detritus, debris and washed up remnants of humanity. This Plastic Beach is the furthest point from any landmass on Earth; the most deserted spot on the planet.
Weve lost count of the times weve been asked for this on vinyl. The CD was released back in March, and EMI had promised a lavish box set containing a vinyl format later in the year, but weve since learned that a standard double vinyl edition is now on the cards for late August/early September.
The brainchild of iconic singer Damon Albarn and Tank Girl co-creator Jamie Hewlett, Gorillaz are made up of mysterious and imaginative cartoon characters. While the image is powerful, it is the music that has ultimately made this project such a multi-million selling success. Albarns ability to diversify musically shows no signs of slowing down on Plastic Beach, the follow-up to 2005s Demon Days. Collaborations with Snoop Dogg, Gruff Rhys, De La Soul, Little Dragon and more make this a truly special album.
