Released in April 1995, Wowee Zowee is Pavement’s third studio album and their most sprawling, unpredictable record. Coming between the breakthrough of Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain and the more refined Brighten the Corners, it deliberately resists easy listening — shifting between country, noise rock, gentle balladry and pure chaos across 18 tracks.
Grounded, Rattled by the Rush, Father to a Sister of Thought and Half a Canyon are among the highlights on an album that rewards patience and repeated listening. Divisive on release, it is now widely regarded as one of Pavement’s most adventurous and rewarding records. Pressed on 2LP vinyl.
