Description
Nova Heart is a slick psychological thriller, a long, cold stare. Its fuse burns slowly. The lethargic bassline buildup on Lackluster No is offset by Fengs casual asides, off cue: she speaks to the person behind you, ever evading the listener but nevertheless drawing you into Nova Hearts subtle dream-logic world. Global nomad Feng composes a Lynchian score to a film playing in her mind, one that is not firmly rooted in any single place or time; whose characters are not merely men or women, but hooded, beautiful phantoms beyond your understanding of sex; a compelling nightmare vision you can only glimpse in brief moments, during psychedelic detours sprinkled throughout the albums more challenging interludes (Mumble Mumble, An Uncomfortable Rest).
