Mighty Clouds is the new project from Fred Thomas (Saturday Looks Good to Me, City Center) and Betty Marie Barnes (SLGTM). Their self-titled debut is a split release between Polyvinyl and Life Like.
Mighty Clouds is a collaboration of the sort that can only occur when two musicians connect on a level that goes beyond the songs they are performing. Throughout Mighty Clouds self-titled debut, Thomas and Barnes musical camaraderie generates a gentle electricity that exudes intimacy and beckons the listener to move in for a closer listen.
Against a backdrop of delicate, unified instrumentation and subtle orchestration, Barnes incredible voice and Thomas songwriting prowess shine unabated. With its stripped-down sound Mighty Clouds strikes a unique balance between Thomas sparse solo recordings and SLGTMs Spector-esque production values.
Limited edition of 500 copies on black 180gram vinyl.
