Description
Almost twenty years since Midnight Oil last released a studio album, ‘Capricornica’, the band came back together in 2017 and in 2020 they got involved with ‘The Makarrata Project’, which is about support and mutual understanding for and with Australia’s indigenous peoples. Throughout the years, this theme has been strongly in the minds of Midnight Oil in mind, which many of their lyrics over the years reflect.
The songwriting, energy and playing is at the very top of this great album, which vocally has several guest appearances from artists with roots in Australia’s indigenous people. Midnight Oil here are Peter Garrett, Jim Moginie, Rob Hirst, Martin Rotsey and Bones Hillman. Hillman sadly died in December 2020 and his beautiful “Terror Australia”, sung here by Alice Skye, is one of the album’s many moving highlights.
