Japan’s guitar grandmaster and early instrumental city pop darling Masayoshi Takanaka has many a classic work from the Kitty Record era under his belt, but this record hears them all reissued as one. Thanks to an earler 2013 digital remastering, there’s a renewed clarity to this one: Takanaka’s polished, guitar-fronting fusion sound transcends eras, offering a refined resort vibe apt for modern relaxation. Released by Kitty Records, the predecessor of Universal, these J-fusion gems also include albums by Carioca and Horizon Dream, with the likes of ‘Mambo No 6’ and ‘My Secret Beach’ covering a perfect gamut of art and surf disco.
