Fernando Vicicontes new album Leave The Radio On is 3 years in the making, a virtual whos who of Portland Oregons finest musicians, including Peter Buck (on 8 tracks) and Scott McCaughey of REM, Sarabeth Tucek as well as members of , Elliott Smith, Richmond Fontaine (Sean, Dan, Freddy and Paul) and The Delines.
This is a new chapter in Fernandos ever-evolving musical trajectory, a career marked by creative integrity and an almost painful honesty which attracts fans from high and low that still believe in the redemptive power of rock and roll.
This is Fernandos 8th album and was produced by Fernando with Mike Coykendall and Luther Russell. Fernando was born in Argentina and came of age musically in the LA hard rock band Monkey Paw before moving to Portland in 1994 where he released his first album A Season in Hell mining the alt-country vein. His third album saw him returning to a Spanish roots and following releases saw him turning his hand at other styles before he was forced to stop performing due to a throat operation in 2001. Fernando finally returned in 2006 with Enter to Exit which featured members of the Eels and Richmond Fontaine, Magnet magazine put in the year end best of lists as well as glowing reviews in Billboard, Paste etc.
