Marking 50 years since its original release, StonesThrow Records’ reissue of Haruomi Hosono’s 1975 album ‘Tropical Dandy’ is the first edition of this record to be released outside of Japan. ‘Tropical Dandy’ is the cult classic album that markedHosono’s shift toward genre-blending, fusing exotica,jazz and pop to lay the groundwork for Japanese CityPop. Hosono is the founding member of folk-rock act HappyEnd and the pioneering electronic trio Yellow MagicOrchestra.
