None of the songs have been previously recorded by other artists. Elvis Costellos contribution, The Judgement, was written specifically for Solomon Burke.
Solomon Burke, born in 1936 ( 2010), belongs in the firmament of Sixties soul singers. An ordained minister, Burkes youth was steeped in gospel music. Indeed, such was his reputation that Burke even had his own gospel radio show called Solomons Temple.
