The Courage Of Others is the third album from Bella Unions Texan indie rockers, Midlake. Following 2006s critics favourite The Trials Of Van Occupanther, this effort continues the groups tendency for guitar experimentation, which has seen them compared with the likes of Radiohead and Grandaddy. Tim Smiths vocals are often as affecting and sincere as Jeff Buckley and Rufus Wainwright, adding to the atmosphere and depth provided by some of the best musicianship youll find in any band on the indie circuit.
The band hint on a new direction with the new album: We didnt know exactly what we wanted, but we know we didnt want to make the same album as last time. We could have made 10 albums with the amount of time weve spent, but that doesnt mean theyd be saying anything great. Rumours are that the new LP will be heavily influenced by their love of the 60s British folk scene, the sleeve certainly has an air of the Incredible String Band about it!!
