Description
Beach Slang are amazing! The closest thing Ive heard to The Replacements scuzzy laid back charm in a long, long while. Theyve released two EPs in America and both are compiled here on a single orange 12 LP here in the UK on the ever marvellous Big Scary Monsters label.
For fans of: Jawbreaker, Gaslight Anthem and Cheap Girls
Pitchfork: Everywhere you turn, breathless rhythms crash headlong into blaring, yearning leads, a perfectly outsized complement to the widescreen, fucked-up-and-loving-it sentiments Its a goddamn shame that no radio station is going to give this the kind of airplay it deserves
Noisey: So its not inaccurate to call Beach Slang a buzz band given how quickly they caught fire and became media darlings. But unlike many buzz bands, Beach Slang really does live up to the hype
With the excitement built around it, were just going to go ahead and say it: Beach Slang is the best new band of the year. And were not afraid to call first on that
Compressed Manic: Cheap Thrills On A Dead End Street features four dark, moody, and catchy as fuck songs thats an absolute must listen for fans of Daylight, Pity Sex, and Jawbreaker
No Echo: Theyve got the somber honesty and feeling of emo, the catchiness of pop-punk, and the powerful surge of the best 90s alternative rockall adding up to 11 minutes of sheer perfection
I encourage you to please listen for yourself, cause literally everything about this EP is fucking incredible. Im far beyond enthusiastic here: I completely flip out and lose my mind over shit like this! Im already dying to hear more, so I cant recommend this enough
Already Heard: Of course, with the EP reigning in after only the fourth track, its simply a small sample of the ability that the band possess. However, Beach Slang have certainly showed off their musical talent with this release, and have shown plenty of promise for the future.
