Description
Following on from the release of The Studio Albums box set in 2012; a vinyl LP boxed set containing all eleven albums, Universal Music are now releasing the albums individually. Remastered and pressed on 180g heavyweight vinyl.
Produced by Kit Lambert, The Whos diverse second effort, A Quick One, was issued in December 1966 and finds the band distancing themselves from their R&B roots and experimenting with pop music for the first time. At the behest of their managers all four members of the group provided original material to the 10-song set which helped immediatly distinguish the album from its 1965 predecessor My Generation which was largely composed by Pete Townshend. Although Pete still looms large here with the likes of standout cuts like Run Run Run, So Sad About Us and the mini-opera A Quick One While Hes Away, additional highlights come in the form of Keith Moons madcap instrumental Cobwebs and Strange and John Entwistles Whiskey Man and Boris the Spider.
