Description
Celebrated American funk bassist, singer and songwriter Bootsy Collins will release his new studio album Tha Funk Capital Of The World on 25th April 2011.
Released by Mascot Records, the album features guest performances from Snoop Dogg, George Clinton, Ice Cube, Chuck D, Sheila E, Bobby Womack, George Duke, the Rev Al Sharpton and Samuel L Jackson, and many more. Tha Funk Capital Of The World is Bootsys first new studio album of original funk material since 2002s Play With Bootsy.
The album artwork features a (limited edition) dazzling 3D lenticular sleeve. Rising to prominence playing bass guitar for James Brown in the late 1960s, and with Parliament Funkadelic in the 1970s, Collins thunderous, infectious bass guitar and humourous vocals established him as one of the leading pioneer in funk. In 1997 Collins, along with 15 other members of Parliament Funkadelic, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. After spraying outer space bass all over classic recordings by the Godfather of Soul, P-Funk, and his own trail-blazing groups, including Bootsys Rubber Band, the Sweat Band and Praxis Bootsy has arrived at a kind of Zen-like balance that he credits for inspiring his new album. From the opening Hip Hop @ Funk U to the closing The Munchies 2011, Tha Funk Capital of the World is a percolating playground of soul-deep rhythms and layered melodies punctuated by lyrics that range from meditations on the nature of truth to the joys of fun-loving hipness to spiritual transcendence. And while Bootsys bass is the albums heartbeat, its his voice that brims with giddy delight, goosing up the blissed-out vibe.
