Description
Los Angeles experimental indie-rock four-piece Warpaint release their eagerly anticipated debut The Fool through Rough Trade.
The band found their feet, and indeed their audience, on tour with Mercury Award winners The XX. Atmospheric, echoing guitar lines are backed up by a tight and intricate rhythm section, while vocalist Emily Kokal beautifully delivers lyrics that often depict lost love, while there is a determination about them that prevents the album from sounding too melancholy. The Fool features the wonderful Undertow single, which sums up this all-girl bands sound perfectly, and earning comparisons with the Cocteau Twins.
