Second album, following 2006s Worrisome Heart, from this young Pennsylvanian jazz chanteuse who became involved in music as part of her therapy after a traumatic automobile accident in her teens, and has gone on to become a highly regarded singer and songwriter. With a velvety vocal tone and impeccable phrasing reminiscent of the great female jazz singers of the 40s and 50s, and lush orchestrations to match, Gardot is arguably the most authentic of the new generation of jazz artists, and rightly deserving of the praise that has been heaped upon her.
